Sanford’s historic train depot is slated to become a microbrewery and market, according to real estate brokers for the property.
A group named 212 First Street LLC purchased the property with about 6,000 square feet on 1.3 acres in Sanford’s downtown for $565,000.
Michael Moreno of DeBary purchased the property for $100,000 in 1993 from the Resolution Trust Corporation, records show.
While a number of restaurateurs were interested in leasing it, the property took several years of marketing to find buyers willing to invest in a full-scale buildout, said Jason Toll, who oversees industrial services for NAI Realvest for Central Florida.
Buyers plan a concept somewhat similar to Plant Street Market in Winter Garden but in a historic space where produce from the Sanford area had been loaded onto a rail cars, Toll said. The development comes as downtown Sanford is set to become more residential with two multi-family projects planned, he added.
